Introducing the 2025 KPC League feat. the Team Event
What is it?
The KPC League is a 3-part, multi-discipline series for all ages that will be hosted by Kyalami Park Club to build club spirit and celebrate our world class facilities and awesome KPC community.
Each leg of the League will ensure an entertainment-packed, family orientated celebration of our sport.
When is it?
- Leg 1: 22 – 23 March 2025
- Leg 2: 30 – 31 August
- Leg 3: 22 – 23 November
This will be followed by an awards evening at the end of November where the KPC League Champions will be announced.
How does it work?
- KPC members will accumulate League points in each class over the three legs of the league series and be eligible to be crowned KPC League Champion at the awards ceremony which will be hosted after the final leg.
- Points are cumulative, so the more legs members compete in, the better their chances of becoming a league Champion.
- Riders can upgrade/downgrade during the League but only points for the same height/level will be tallied.
- The KPC member with the highest number of points at the end of the third leg will win the League championship for that grade/height/level.
- KPC members will be permitted to ride in their KPC shirts/apparel.
- Non-members are able to compete but will not be eligible to earn points.
How does the scoring work?
- Points are awarded for placings in all classes.
- 1st place receives 100 points and subsequent placings receive points as per the table below. All riders from 16th place onwards receive 30 points.
1st | 2nd | 3rd | 4th | 5th | 6th | 7th | 8th | 9th | 10th | 11th | 12th | 13th | 14th | 15th | 16th onwards |
100 | 95 | 90 | 85 | 80 | 78 | 76 | 74 | 72 | 70 | 68 | 66 | 64 | 62 | 60 | 30 |
- No points will be awarded to those who are eliminated or retire.
- Where a discipline has 2 classes per grade, points will be awarded to each class. e.g., Both the A2 Competition as well as the Competition in 2 Phases will receive points as will both classes in the Dressage.
- The KPC Champion in each grade will be the rider who accumulates the most points over the three legs.
- Should a rider ride more than one horse in a class, only the highest score will be allocated to that rider.
- The scores of the final leg of the League on the 7/8 December 2024 will be weighted and will count 1.5 x the points.
- A rider only accumulates points in the grade in which they have ridden, so a rider who rides up or down the grades in different legs will not be able to accumulate points in one grade.
Introducing the 2025 KPC Team Event
The Teams Event will run independently of the KPC League classes, so you can choose to enter just the League, or the Team Event, or both.
How it works
Where possible, the Team Events will take place on the Sunday of the KPC League Show. This portion of the show is separate to the individual competition with individual KPC League classes running as normal throughout the weekend.
All disciplines are invited to have a Team Event (i.e. Dressage, Equitation, Showing and Showjumping), but a minimum number of teams is required for the competition to be held. Equally, the number of teams is capped at a maximum to ensure the individual classes can all take place.
The Team Event may not be graded as per individual discipline regulations.
Pony Riders, Children, Juniors, and Adults can all take part in the same team.
Teams pay R4000 excl. VAT to buy into the Team Event. For this buy in they:
- Are guaranteed space in the Team Event for their chosen discipline for the three shows.
- Are permitted to wear their Team shirts for the Team Event.
- Get a designed logo from the HQ Design Team (if desired). This logo will be free of charge and up to three revisions are permitted.
- Have a team photoshoot (1 hour) with the HQ Photography Team at KPC (if desired).
- Feature on our KPC social media pages, as well as on the HQ Magazine social media pages.
Dressage teams must have a minimum of four and a maximum of eight members. There must be one Prelim rider, one Novice rider, one Elementary rider and one rider of Medium level and above. Riders may be from any age group except PR and Children’s Prelim which is ridden in a different sized arena. Teams may enter up to two riders per level, but only the highest score will contribute to the team’s final ranking points. Each rider will ride one test at their level.
Showjumping teams must have a minimum of four and a maximum of eight members. There must be one 70cm rider, one 80cm rider, one 90cm rider and one 1m rider. Teams may enter up to two riders per level but only the best score will contribute to the team’s ranking points.
Showing teams should have five members. Each team should field one Show Hack or Pony, one Show Hunter or Pony, one Show Riding Horse or Pony, one Working Riding Horse or Pony and one Working Hunter or Pony. The lowest scoring combination will be the dropped score for that Team.
Equitation teams should have four riders. They must have one Welcome level combination, one Novice level combination, one Intermediate level combination and one Open combination. The lowest scoring combination will be the dropped score for that Team.
How do I enter?
You can enter your Team on this Google Form: https://forms.gle/YKeQcSeuMBPNaYze6
Once your Team is entered, you can enter the Team event on the relevant discipline website. The only exception is for Equitation, where you can enter via the KPC website.
